About Christy
Christy Brockman holds a Bachelor’s degree in French Language, a Master’s of Arts in Teaching, and a Master’s of Education in Secondary School Counseling. Inspired by a passion for education and student development, she began her career in Jefferson County Public Schools (JCPS) as a French teacher before transitioning to school counseling in 2011. Christy is an active member of the American School Counseling Association (ASCA) and the National Association for College Admissions Counseling (NACAC).
As a dedicated school counselor with 20+ years of professional experience advising students of varied levels of interest, giftedness, and preparedness, Christy has been instrumental in increasing students’ college readiness. She designed innovative curricula to educate students about higher education, expanded dual credit access in multiple JCPS high schools, and provided comprehensive college advising and application support. Her holistic approach ensures students choose appropriate and rigorous coursework while engaging in extracurricular activities that prepare them for college and beyond.
Christy’s students have matriculated to prestigious institutions such as Stanford University, Yale University for Public Policy, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Columbia University, Cornell University, University of Pennsylvania, Washington University, Georgia Institute of Technology, Vanderbilt University, University of Michigan for Engineering, Claremont McKenna for Liberal Arts, and NYU Stern for Business. She has also helped students secure scholarships, including full tuition at universities like Purdue University, University of Louisville, University of Kentucky, Centre College, University of Alabama, and Indiana University, Bloomington.
Her efforts have earned her the JCPS Counselor of the Year award twice, highlighting her innovative counseling initiatives and dedication to student success.
Christy’s professional philosophy centers on empowering students to achieve their full potential through personalized guidance and support. She continuously seeks professional development opportunities, attending workshops and conferences to stay current with the latest trends in education and counseling.
Outside of her professional life, Christy is actively involved in her community. She supports her son’s debate and soccer teams, and enjoys encouraging her daughter’s college experiences and leadership development. A passionate LouCity fan, Christy also spends time relaxing with her two Pugs, Fenway and Wrigley.
Looking to the future, Christy aims to further enhance counseling programs, continuing to innovate and provide exceptional support for all students. Her unwavering commitment to education and student development makes her a respected and invaluable member of the educational community.
